The Accelerating Change Through Innovation in Agricultural TVET (ACTIVATE) program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation through WUSC_Ghana, is a 5-year initiative dedicated to enhancing the well-being and resilience of young women and men across Ghana.
Wislaw Education and Support Fund joined University of Mines and Technology - UMaT at International Women’s Day 2025! We were excited to participate in this impactful event under the theme “Accelerate Action: Personal and Collective Responsibility.” Our Welding and Fabrication Facilitator, Ms. Diana Bervel, engaged with the amazing women in attendance, encouraging them to embrace technical skills and push boundaries. We also introduced the ACTIVATE Project, highlighting the incredible opportunities available for young women in skills training, career development, and entrepreneurship.
Wislaw Education and Support Fund recently hosted a free Robotics Training Program for BECE graduates, turning weekends into hands-on learning adventures. Through building and coding robots, students explored tech in a fun, practical way—gaining confidence, creativity, and a passion for innovation. We’re proud to have sparked curiosity and empowered young minds to imagine and build the future.
Mentorship has always been key in building and enhancing capacity of groups and individuals. We believe in building and enhancing capacity of mentors to provide quality and impactful mentoring to young women to thrive in male-dominated trades. To all women whom we mentored through WUSC Ghana and other partners we say keep being outstanding, we say Ayekooo!!
In case you missed our Career Guidance and Counselling session with students of Tarkwa Technical Institute (TTI), here are some beautiful moments that happened on 21st July, 2023. We engaged them on the relevance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and introduced them to the many opportunities that awaits them.
We were delighted to join forces with J'NISSI Reading Program to promote TVET and provide access to books in the area of Catering & Hospitality, Fashion Design Technology, Building & Construction and the Generic Subjects (English, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies and Entrepreneurship). The Principal, Mrs. Helen Asmah on behalf of management of the school expressed her apprection and stated this was the first time they had received support from an NGO. She called for further support towards the supply of computers and it's accessories to their IT Lab to create opportunities for research and innovation to students and instructors. We are glad we made an impact to the school.
As part of our plans to empower females in Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation, today the Technical Lead of Wislaw Education and Support Fund, Mercy Adoley Quaye joined "Lead F Africa" in Kigali for the kick-off session for the 10-week leadership program designed for Female Leaders in Tech from across the African continent
We had the opportunity to meet with the BECE candidates from Divine Victory Academy in Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality and discussed some key things to consider before and during the final examination. The students were encouraged to put in their best in order to be eligible for our financial support for secondary education. Additionally, we provided them with some examination resources that will aid them in their academic endeavors.
SMEs were taken through Pitch Deck Preparation for their businesses and how best they could catch the attention of investors to invest in their businesses. Participants shared their experiences of the topic to enhance the understanding of the topic. For businesses or Startups, Pitch deck is the first communication tool used to reach out to potential investors either through emails or in person. It acts as a sales pitch of a startup for the investors and make them understand the startup in the manner they are accustomed to.
